Healing Heart Retreat enhances heart health and recovery

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Come enjoy the calming environment at the University of Michigan Frankel Cardiovascular Center for a Healing Heart retreat, held 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, April 16, at 1425 E. Ann St., Ann Arbor, MI 48109. 

The interactive, half-day retreat features gentle exercise, nourishing food, self-discovery and an emphasis on living a more fulfilled life. People face losing their lives to heart disease more than any other health condition.

You’ll leave the Healing Heart Retreat with:

  • Strategies to live a happier, more fulfilled life, with insight from Victor J. Strecher, author of On Purpose, a journey of self-discovery and renewal.
  • Effective yoga and meditation techniques you can practice on your own.
  • Tips to create delicious, heart-healthy meals, with a food demonstration and recipes to take home.
  • Ideas and tools for overall heart health.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Victor Strecher, the author of On Purpose, a book he wrote following the 2010 loss of his 19-year-old daughter, Julia, to a rare heart condition.

This tragedy inspired the book, which traces his path toward fully reengaging with life while documenting for himself — and anyone who reads the book — the transformative power of purpose. Dr. Strecher is professor and director for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship of at the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
